When to Go

Hawkes Bay is busiest during the summer, December – February, as the peak heat hits, ranging from 60°F to 75°F. Winters can be chilly, ranging between 48°F and 68°F, but the crowds also thin out at this time, giving more space and time to the city’s recreational activities. February brings the biggest festival, the Art Deco festival, a fun and commemorative celebration of all things from the 1930’s.
